Great book and must read for new indie developers
A short read, but one that is certainly worthwhile. Written by indie developers, for indie developers. Very inspiring, and supplies a very realistic outlook on independent game development.
Great resource
Having already published a couple of games I skipped the part about getting a game done and focused on the marketing and promotion part. And I can say that the advises are really useful and can help any game developer out there promote their games.
This book has so much knowledge, inside information and succesful practices regarding app development and marketing that it is almost fatal not read this before making your next app a winner. Thoroughly recommend!
Essential for any game developer. These guys know the business.
Black Shell Media does not have a good reputation in the indie world. They publish junk and fluff. Their approach is to spam links to games or articles they've written using several accounts to make it look viral or remotely organic. I'd be embarrassed to publish my games with BSM. This book is one more example of their work.
If you're brand new to the indie world maybe there is some shred of useful info in the book. By and large the book is generic and useless. Yes making games is hard and people don't understand that. Yes you need to market your game. And no getting greenlit wont cause your bank account to overflow.
If you're just starting out go buy a coding book or a book about modeling or a book about game design. Those books are worth your time and money and will help your next game be successful - unlike this book.
