This book is and "ok" book. Not a whole lot to do with dogs as much as the hikes. I already had a couple books about hiking in Georgia and a lot of these hikes are the same. Plus I have already hiked a good amount on the trails in Georgia and knew which ones would be good for taking my puppy on when she's a little older. I guess I thought they would be more info on "dogs" instead of the trails. It's still a good book and I bought it used so I didn't pay much. The small section on "dogs" is good and tells you ideas of what to do and what not to do, but it only takes a few minutes to read. The section in the book about the trails and how they are rated is ok, but don't know how much I'll actually be looking at it when planning a hike with my dog. Once again my other hiking books rate these trails about the same, so dog or no dog, it really doesn't help that much. If you don't already have a hiking book about trails in Georgia and have a dog you'd like to start hiking with, this is a great book. If like me you already have hiked a good many trials mentioned in the book or have other hiking books with these trails, you won't fine a lot of new information.

This book is great! It is easy to read and gain a wealth of info to plan exciting and appropriate hikes for you and your canine companions. Includes topography of hike, if water is present on the journey, if better for the young active dog or the older less-in-shape dog (or dog owner), and good directions getting to the hikes and how to follow the trail. Best hiking book I've ever read! Makes you excited about hitting the trails with the knowledge to predict if this is the right hike for your family.
Love this guide - it's exactly what it says. Gives you valuable info on more than 50 hikes to do with your dog in the Georgia/South Carolina area! Highly recommended if you enjoy hiking with your dog and are looking to explore new trails!
